NFDA/YFP Mentorship Program - Mentee Information

Program Requirements

  • AIMMentees must be willing to assume the appropriate roles as defined below.
  • In order to participate in this program, mentees and mentors must complete their respective applications.
  • Participants need to be willing to make a minimum twelve-month commitment. 
  • Mentees may only have one mentor at a time.
  • Mentors need not be from NFDA member companies, but priority will be given to mentors from member companies.
  • Mentors and mentees must be available to provide periodic feedback to NFDA and YFP regarding the program

Role of Mentee

  • Mentees need to complete the Mentorship Program Application Form - Mentees through the YFP website.
  • Mentees are responsible for facilitating the relationship.
  • Mentees are responsible for driving the relationship, meaning that mentees must have clear goals for what they want to achieve from participation and take responsibility for pursuing those objectives.
  • Mentees should take initiative and communicate with mentors to schedule meetings, communicating regularly with their mentors.
  • Mentees should be prepared with questions and goals to work on with their mentor during each scheduled session. Suggested best practice is to share topics for conversation a week before the call to give the mentor time to think about the issues.
  • Mentees must keep scheduled commitments and provide advance notice of any unforeseen conflicts requiring rescheduling.
  • Mentees must not ask their mentors for a job during the mentorship period.
  • Mentees are expected to be professional, courteous, and gracious in every interaction with their mentors.

The 2025 program will start in January. New applications for the 2026 program are now being accepted through November 1, 2025.
